What is the Issue?

For the professional musician, entertainer and crew, it’s not a hobby, it’s our career.

#paytheperformer campaign calls for fair and equitable payment for workers in the Music & Entertainment industry.

As we enter in a period of phased reopening of the country, and live performances are on the horizon, queries and bookings for music and entertainment are now starting to come in.

We don’t want to see workers’ fees being slashed, and work being offered in a ‘take it or leave it’ fashion with poor rates being offered.

Workers need support in rebuilding this industry again.

Covid-19 has been devastating to workers:

66% experienced 90-100% Income Loss from their profession

20% have been forced to take up employment outside the industry

56% are considering leaving the industry

45.8% are struggling to pay household bills

Music and entertainment enhances the social and customer experience, attracts customers into and encourages them to stay longer in a premises, builds the profile of the premises and helps create a positive, upbeat atmosphere.

Let’s maintain the value of the product and service we provide.
